Where is Singriwala?

Singriwala is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 2 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-I community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031567, and it covers 317 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,800 people in Singriwala: 903 men and 897 women, living in 376 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 317 hectares, the population density works out to about 568 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 993 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 188, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 762 people, about 42 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 87.84 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 91.93 per cent and women at 83.77 per cent.
