Where is Chak Shakur?

Chak Shakur is a village of Jalandhar West tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Bhogpur, about 11 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhogpur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030628, and it covers 210 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 660 people in Chak Shakur: 331 men and 329 women, living in 137 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 210 hectares, the population density works out to about 314 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 994 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 92, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 337 people, about 51 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
