Where is Khiala?

Khiala is a village of Jalandhar East tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Adampur, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Adampur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030286, and it covers 251 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 163 people in Khiala: 84 men and 79 women, living in 37 households, an average of about 4.4 people per household. Spread over its 251 hectares, the population density works out to about 65 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 940 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 28, about 17 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 80 people, about 49 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Irrigation came mainly from wells and tube-wells (165 hectares). About 81 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds.
