Lidhran is a village of Jalandhar West tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Jalandhar, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jalandhar (West) community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030458, and it covers 644 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 3,766 people in Lidhran: 2,029 men and 1,737 women, living in 877 households, an average of about 4.3 people per household. Spread over its 644 hectares, the population density works out to about 585 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 856 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 400, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,243 people, about 33 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.3 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 86.91 per cent and women at 79.11 per cent. The census recorded 1,376 workers, about 37 per cent of the village. Of the 1,216 main workers, the largest group, 1,039, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 133 cultivators on their own land and 32 agricultural labourers. A further 160 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
