Where is Rastgo?

Rastgo is a village of Jalandhar West tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Bhogpur, about 7 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhogpur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030614, and it covers 288 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,283 people in Rastgo: 660 men and 623 women, living in 251 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 288 hectares, the population density works out to about 445 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 944 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 125, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 830 people, about 65 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 79.79 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 83.05 per cent and women at 76.41 per cent. The census recorded 387 workers, about 30 per cent of the village.
