Where is Bharowana?

Bharowana is a village of Sultanpur Lodhi tehsil in Kapurthala district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Sultanpur Lodhi, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sultanpur Lodhi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029545, and it covers 366 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 672 people in Bharowana: 357 men and 315 women, living in 148 households, an average of about 4.5 people per household. Spread over its 366 hectares, the population density works out to about 184 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 882 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 105, about 16 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 330 people, about 49 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
