Where is Saprore?

Saprore is a village of Phagwara tehsil in Kapurthala district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Phagwara, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Phagwara community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029657, and it covers 332 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,407 people in Saprore: 759 men and 648 women, living in 284 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 332 hectares, the population density works out to about 424 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 854 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 136, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 592 people, about 42 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.32 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.39 per cent and women at 77.32 per cent. The census recorded 540 workers, about 38 per cent of the village.
