Chima (Payal) is a village in Payal tehsil of Ludhiana district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Payal, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Khanna community development block and is served by the Chima gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033327, and it covers 252 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,722 people in Chima (Payal): 880 men and 842 women, living in 300 households, an average of about 5.7 people per household. Spread over its 252 hectares, the population density works out to about 683 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 957 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 192, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 715 people, about 42 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
