Where is Ferozepur?

Ferozepur is a village of Malerkotla tehsil in Malerkotla district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Malerkotla, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Malerkotla-II community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039434, and it covers 1,594 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 4,369 people in Ferozepur: 2,313 men and 2,056 women, living in 837 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 1,594 hectares, the population density works out to about 274 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 889 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 397, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,313 people, about 30 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
