Where is Rajrana?

Rajrana is a village of Sardulgarh tehsil in Mansa district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Sardulgarh, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sardulgarh community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 035955, and it covers 410 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 683 people in Rajrana: 341 men and 342 women, living in 140 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 410 hectares, the population density works out to about 167 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1003 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 95, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 343 people, about 50 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 56.63 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 65.44 per cent and women at 47.59 per cent. The census recorded 412 workers, about 60 per cent of the village. Irrigation came mainly from canals (78 hectares) and wells and tube-wells (300 hectares). About 24 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds.
