It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Sujanpur, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sujanpur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027450, and it covers 563 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 798 people in Bheri Bazurg: 439 men and 359 women, living in 142 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household. Spread over its 563 hectares, the population density works out to about 142 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 818 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 90, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 546 people, about 68 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 79.1 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 85.27 per cent and women at 71.65 per cent. The census recorded 204 workers, about 26 per cent of the village. Of the 153 main workers, the largest group, 66, were agricultural labourers, ahead of 65 other workers in trade, transport and services and 11 cultivators on their own land. A further 51 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
