Where is Kaunterpur?

Kaunterpur is a village of Pathankot tehsil in Pathankot district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Pathankot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027512, and it covers 567 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,821 people in Kaunterpur: 935 men and 886 women, living in 334 households, an average of about 5.5 people per household. Spread over its 567 hectares, the population density works out to about 321 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 948 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 203, about 11 per cent of the village.
