Where is Magar?

Magar is a village of Rajpura tehsil in Patiala district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Ghanaur, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Ghanaur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036898, and it covers 124 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 413 people in Magar: 220 men and 193 women, living in 80 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 124 hectares, the population density works out to about 333 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 877 women for every 1,000 men. Irrigation came mainly from canals (75 hectares) and wells and tube-wells (42 hectares). About 7 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds.
