Where is Mardan Heri?

Mardan Heri is a village of Patiala tehsil in Patiala district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Sanaur, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sanaur community development block and is served by the Mardan--Heri, Dera Bazigar gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036631, and it covers 532 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,765 people in Mardan Heri: 1,466 men and 1,299 women, living in 521 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 532 hectares, the population density works out to about 520 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 886 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 393, about 14 per cent of the village.
