Where is Rathian?

Rathian is a village of Patiala tehsil in Patiala district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Sanaur, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sanaur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036814, and it covers 348 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,502 people in Rathian: 803 men and 699 women, living in 264 households, an average of about 5.7 people per household. Spread over its 348 hectares, the population density works out to about 432 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 870 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 212, about 14 per cent of the village.
