Rurki Budhsingh is a village in Dudhan Sadhan tehsil of Patiala district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Sanaur, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunerheri community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036694, and it covers 165 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,313 people in Rurki Budhsingh: 664 men and 649 women, living in 248 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 165 hectares, the population density works out to about 796 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 977 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 202, about 15 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 318 people, about 24 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 46.89 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 52.58 per cent and women at 41.09 per cent. The census recorded 377 workers, about 29 per cent of the village. Of the 126 main workers, the largest group, 63, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 43 cultivators on their own land and 17 agricultural labourers. A further 251 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.

Farming covers most of Rurki Budhsingh's land. Of the village's 165 hectares, 145 hectares were net sown area in the 2011 record, and every sown hectare was irrigated. Irrigation came mainly from canals (38 hectares) and wells and tube-wells (107 hectares). About 20 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds. Neighbouring villages include Guthmara, Behru, Kapoori and Nijampur.
