Where is Bari Makori?

Bari Makori is a village in Rupnagar tehsil of Rupnagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Rupnagar, about 11 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Rupnagar community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038632, and it covers 229 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 418 people in Bari Makori: 223 men and 195 women, living in 88 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 229 hectares, the population density works out to about 183 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 874 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 50, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 192 people, about 46 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 86.68 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 90.77 per cent and women at 82.08 per cent. The census recorded 267 workers, about 64 per cent of the village. A further 29 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
