Fatehpur is a village in Chamkaur Sahib tehsil of Rupnagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Chamkaur Sahib, about 7 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Chamkaur Sahib community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038825, and it covers 152 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,140 people in Fatehpur: 596 men and 544 women, living in 191 households, an average of about 6.0 people per household. Spread over its 152 hectares, the population density works out to about 750 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 913 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 123, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 319 people, about 28 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 79.06 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 83.8 per cent and women at 73.87 per cent. The census recorded 452 workers, about 40 per cent of the village. Of the 328 main workers, the largest group, 149, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 105 other workers in trade, transport and services and 58 agricultural labourers. A further 124 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
