Jasran is a village in Chamkaur Sahib tehsil of Rupnagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Chamkaur Sahib, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Chamkaur Sahib community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038793, and it covers 95 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 263 people in Jasran: 137 men and 126 women, living in 44 households, an average of about 6.0 people per household. Spread over its 95 hectares, the population density works out to about 277 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 920 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 26, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 163 people, about 62 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 75.11 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 84.8 per cent and women at 64.29 per cent. The census recorded 148 workers, about 56 per cent of the village. Of the 133 main workers, the largest group, 53, were household industry workers, ahead of 40 agricultural labourers and 28 cultivators on their own land. A further 15 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
