Where is Barauli?

Barauli is a village of Dera Bassi tehsil in SAS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Puadh region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Zirakpur, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dera Bassi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039368, and it covers 932 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,726 people in Barauli: 912 men and 814 women, living in 329 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 932 hectares, the population density works out to about 185 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 893 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 185, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 339 people, about 20 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
