Where is Dialpura?

Dialpura is a village in Dera Bassi tehsil of SAS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Zirakpur, about 1 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dera Bassi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039371, and it covers 294 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 3,013 people in Dialpura: 1,581 men and 1,432 women, living in 544 households, an average of about 5.5 people per household. Spread over its 294 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,025 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 906 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 364, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 474 people, about 16 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 84.94 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 89.34 per cent and women at 80.08 per cent. The census recorded 1,586 workers, about 53 per cent of the village. Of the 1,502 main workers, the largest group, 881, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 406 household industry workers and 114 cultivators on their own land. A further 84 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.

Dera Bassi, the tehsil headquarters, and Mohali, the district headquarters, are the practical hubs for administration and onward travel. Neighbouring villages include Naraingarh, Bir Chhat, Kishanpura and Ramgarh Bhudda.
