Where is Gobindpura?

Gobindpura is a village in SAS Nagar tehsil of SAS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Banur, about 2 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Rajpura community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039223, and it covers 397 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,166 people in Gobindpura: 1,131 men and 1,035 women, living in 413 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 397 hectares, the population density works out to about 546 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 915 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 199, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 222 people, about 10 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.43 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 86.56 per cent and women at 80.06 per cent. The census recorded 652 workers, about 30 per cent of the village.
