Kheri Jattan is a village in Dera Bassi tehsil of SAS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dera Bassi, about 9 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dera Bassi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039308, and it covers 215 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,176 people in Kheri Jattan: 638 men and 538 women, living in 196 households, an average of about 6.0 people per household. Spread over its 215 hectares, the population density works out to about 546 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 843 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 146, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 462 people, about 39 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 77.38 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 80.51 per cent and women at 73.74 per cent. The census recorded 439 workers, about 37 per cent of the village. Of the 374 main workers, the largest group, 207, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 113 cultivators on their own land and 51 agricultural labourers. A further 65 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.

Neighbouring villages include Punsar, Mianpur, Rampur bahal and Bhagwasi.
