Where is Nagla?

Nagla is a village of Dera Bassi tehsil in SAS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Puadh region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Zirakpur, about 1 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dera Bassi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039374, and it covers 203 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,319 people in Nagla: 705 men and 614 women, living in 256 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 203 hectares, the population density works out to about 650 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 871 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 193, about 15 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 598 people, about 45 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
