Where is Nogiari?

Nogiari is a village in SAS Nagar tehsil of SAS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Banur, about 2 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Kharar community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039212, and it covers 419 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,097 people in Nogiari: 586 men and 511 women, living in 190 households, an average of about 5.8 people per household. Spread over its 419 hectares, the population density works out to about 262 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 872 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 132, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 333 people, about 30 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 77.51 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 82.03 per cent and women at 72.41 per cent. The census recorded 338 workers, about 31 per cent of the village. Irrigation came mainly from canals (120 hectares) and wells and tube-wells (175 hectares). About 58 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds.
