Where is Durgapur?

Durgapur is a village in Nawanshahr tehsil of SBS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Nawansahar, about 3 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nawanshahr community development block and is served by the Durgapur, Hargobind Nagar gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032082, and it covers 92 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 794 people in Durgapur: 407 men and 387 women, living in 163 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 92 hectares, the population density works out to about 863 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 951 women for every 1,000 men.
