Where is Pallian Khurd?

Pallian Khurd is a village of Nawanshahr tehsil in SBS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Rahon, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nawanshahr community development block and is served by the Palian Khurd gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032312, and it covers 197 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,153 people in Pallian Khurd: 588 men and 565 women, living in 233 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 197 hectares, the population density works out to about 585 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 961 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 117, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 420 people, about 36 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 76.74 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 80.69 per cent and women at 72.71 per cent.
