Where is Barwala?

Barwala is a village of Patti tehsil in Tarn Taran district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Patti, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Patti community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038202, and it covers 482 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,781 people in Barwala: 922 men and 859 women, living in 311 households, an average of about 5.7 people per household. Spread over its 482 hectares, the population density works out to about 370 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 932 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 215, about 12 per cent of the village.
