Seven people have now been arrested in the Tiger Shroff car firing case, after three alleged shooters were brought to Mumbai from Kota early on Wednesday, October 21, and Delhi Police's Special Cell arrested four more accused, including two women, who allegedly moved the pistol used in the attack from Amritsar to Mumbai.

The three brought from Kota

The three key accused were brought by road from Kota in Rajasthan to Mumbai early on Wednesday, police said. On arrival they were taken to GT Hospital for a mandatory medical examination and then to the Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti-Extortion Cell office for interrogation. They have been identified as Rehan alias Sukka, from Sonipat in Haryana; Ritik Kurmi alias Roshan, originally from Begusarai in Bihar and living in Mumbai; and Phool Singh, from Haryana.

Kota city police had handed them over to Mumbai Police, which formally arrested them and produced them before a magistrate there, who granted transit remand. Advocate Ajinkya Mirgal reached the Anti-Extortion Cell office on Wednesday morning and told officials he would represent the accused as defence counsel.

Police say the accused fled to Surat after the firing, boarded a Jaipur-bound train there, and were to go to Delhi by bus and then flee to Nepal. Mumbai Police have registered a case of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act.

The Amritsar pistol route

On Tuesday, the Delhi Police Special Cell arrested four more persons in the case: Kunal (21), Sumit (19), Radha (23) and Babita (23), apprehended from Delhi and Haryana. According to police, Kunal had recently been released from jail on bail and was in touch, through an encrypted messaging application, with Anil Pandit, a gangster operating from abroad whom police describe as an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Police allege that, on Pandit's instructions, Kunal collected a pistol and 20 rounds from Amritsar, with Sumit accompanying him, and that Radha and Babita then carried the weapon to Mumbai by train: they left New Delhi railway station on October 15, reached Dadar on October 17, and a minor boy collected the bag near their hotel the same day. The four have been given transit remand to be taken to Mumbai, according to reports. All of this is the police account at this stage; the allegations have not been tested in court.

What happened on October 18

At least two men fired five to six rounds at Shroff's car in Mumbai's Juhu area on Sunday evening, October 18, before speeding away on a motorcycle, which was later found abandoned in Andheri. The actor escaped relatively unhurt, while his driver and a bystander were injured, as we reported at the time. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility in an unverified social media post; that claim has not been confirmed. Police said Rehan was in touch with Pandit, and that the motive of the shooting was still being ascertained, though the manner of the attack suggested an intention to kill.

How many people have been arrested in total?

Seven: three alleged shooters held in Kota and brought to Mumbai, and four more arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell over the alleged weapon supply.
