Chandigarh Police Bust Interstate Heroin Network, 4 Held

Chandigarh Police have arrested four men and seized 1.011 kg of heroin, a pistol and five live cartridges in what they describe as an interstate drug network with a Pakistan-border supply link. The Operations Cell announced the bust on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, while the alleged main handler remains at large.

The first FIR in the matter dates to September 21.

Who are the four accused?

Police said the arrested men are Jaspreet Singh alias Jassi, 30, a taxi driver from Barnala, caught with 284 gm; Gurlal Singh alias Lal, 36, of Karnal, with 514 gm; Arshdeep Singh, 24, of Moga, with 156 gm; and Gursab alias Sabba, 24, of Moga, with 57 gm and the pistol. Police said Gurlal was already facing five cases. Hindustan Times reported that Arshdeep's father is a Punjab Police sub-inspector. These are police allegations; the accused are yet to face trial.

How was the network allegedly run?

Police said the module procured heroin through the Punjab border adjoining Pakistan, using drones, and supplied it to Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh. The alleged key handler, Hardeep Singh alias Deepa, is absconding. Punjab Newsline quoted police as saying he sourced around 22 kg of heroin every month and passed it on through members of the network. Police are now tracing the handler and other links.
