3 Held After Stones Hurled at Alamgir Gurdwara Langar Hall

Police in Ludhiana have arrested three people and are looking for two more after stones and bricks were thrown at the langar hall of the historic Gurdwara Manji Sahib Patshahi Dasvin at Alamgir, Ludhiana district, on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj condemned the attack on Thursday and demanded strict action.

What happened at Alamgir gurdwara?

According to gurdwara manager Hardeep Singh, quoted by Daily Post, a few people came to the langar hall after using the toilets and were entering without washing their hands. A sevadar asked them to wash first, and a heated exchange allegedly followed. The manager said they later washed, ate langar and left. Stones were then allegedly thrown into the complex from a nearby vacant plot while women were cleaning utensils near the hall. No injuries have been reported.

Punjabi Jagran quoted SGPC member Charan Singh Alamgir and others as saying that residents of huts built against the langar hall's wall had earlier been asked to respect the gurdwara's maryada, and that the stone-throwing was an act of resentment. Police have not publicly endorsed that account.
