Mann Launches Final Phase of Yudh Nashean Virudh Bike Rally

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday launched the final phase of the 'Yudh Nashean Virudh' anti-drug campaign from Chapparchiri in Mohali, flagging off a bikers' rally that will travel through all 23 districts of Punjab. Mann said the fight cannot be won by the government alone and called on every Punjabi to join it.

What is the bike rally?

The rally will carry the anti-drug message to villages, towns and communities. A dedicated vehicle will accompany it to collect public feedback and suggestions, and a complaint box will let people report drug traffickers. Actress Neeru Bajwa and the team of the film Thaapi joined the launch, and Cabinet Minister Dr Balbir Singh was present.

Why Chapparchiri?

Mann said the site is tied to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's struggle against injustice and tyranny, and that the same spirit of courage and sacrifice would guide the fight against drugs.

What numbers did the CM cite?

Mann said more than 81,000 drug smugglers have been arrested, 3,900 kg of heroin and 983 kg of opium seized, and the conviction rate in trafficking cases has reached 89%. He said about 15,000 Village and Ward Defence Committees with roughly 1.25 lakh volunteers are active, and that admissions at government de-addiction centres have nearly tripled in a year, with over 40,000 patients admitted.

What else did he announce?

He said anti-drone systems are deployed along the border, 70,885 government jobs have been given on merit, Rs 1,791 crore is allocated for sports, and a world-class film city is planned for the state. He also blamed earlier BJP, Akali and Congress governments for spreading drugs; these are the chief minister's claims.

How can people report drug traffickers?

People can use the Safe Punjab helpline or the complaint boxes carried with the rally. Mann said 51,979 citizens have shared information through the helpline, leading to 25,339 arrests.

ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਥਾਂ ਬਾਬਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਦੇ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਇਨਸਾਫ਼ੀ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹੀ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਤੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜਾਈ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰੇਗੀ।

ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ 81,000 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਤਸਕਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਹੋਏ, 3,900 ਕਿਲੋ ਹੈਰੋਇਨ ਅਤੇ 983 ਕਿਲੋ ਅਫ਼ੀਮ ਜ਼ਬਤ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਤਸਕਰੀ ਮਾਮਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦਰ 89 ਫ਼ੀਸਦੀ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਲਗਭਗ 15,000 ਪਿੰਡ ਤੇ ਵਾਰਡ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਮੇਟੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰੀਬ 1.25 ਲੱਖ ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਛੁਡਾਊ ਕੇਂਦਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖ਼ਲੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗਭਗ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਰਹੱਦ 'ਤੇ ਐਂਟੀ-ਡਰੋਨ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਰਿਟ 'ਤੇ 70,885 ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਨੌਕਰੀਆਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ, ਖੇਡਾਂ ਲਈ 1,791 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਰੱਖੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ-ਪੱਧਰੀ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਸਿਟੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਿਛਲੀਆਂ ਭਾਜਪਾ, ਅਕਾਲੀ ਤੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਸਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਫੈਲਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ; ਇਹ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਅਵੇ ਹਨ।

ਲੋਕ ਸੇਫ਼ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਹੈਲਪਲਾਈਨ ਜਾਂ ਰੈਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਪੇਟੀਆਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮਾਨ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ 51,979 ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੈਲਪਲਾਈਨ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੂਚਨਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ 25,339 ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ।
