Where is Nurpura?

Nurpura is a village of Sangrur tehsil in Sangrur district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Bhawani Garh, about 17 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhawanigarh community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039688, and it covers 352 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 880 people in Nurpura: 455 men and 425 women, living in 158 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household. Spread over its 352 hectares, the population density works out to about 250 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 934 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 87, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 287 people, about 33 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
