Ghonewala is a village in Ajnala tehsil of Amritsar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Ramdas, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Ajnala community development block and is served by the Ghone wala gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 037086, and it covers 399 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,411 people in Ghonewala: 745 men and 666 women, living in 293 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 399 hectares, the population density works out to about 354 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 894 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 184, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 121 people, about 9 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
