Nawan Kot is a village of Amritsar I tehsil in Amritsar district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Jandiala, about 3 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jandiala Guru community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 037546, and it covers 110 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 828 people in Nawan Kot: 447 men and 381 women, living in 158 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 110 hectares, the population density works out to about 753 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 852 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 75, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 440 people, about 53 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
