Mehmuana is a village of Faridkot tehsil in Faridkot district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Faridkot, about 13 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Faridkot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 035526, and it covers 912 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,729 people in Mehmuana: 1,437 men and 1,292 women, living in 523 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 912 hectares, the population density works out to about 299 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 899 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 324, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,341 people, about 49 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 62.54 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 65.78 per cent and women at 58.87 per cent. The census recorded 1,031 workers, about 38 per cent of the village. A further 286 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
