The village falls in the Faridkot community development block and is served by the Virewala Kalan gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 035497, and it covers 452 hectares.

The 2011 census counted 1,139 people in Virewala kalan: 598 men and 541 women, living in 205 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household.
