Where is Rampura?

Rampura is a village of Abohar tehsil in Fazilka district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Abohar, about 18 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Abohar community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 035220, and it covers 835 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,541 people in Rampura: 1,340 men and 1,201 women, living in 484 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 835 hectares, the population density works out to about 304 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 896 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 270, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 562 people, about 22 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 63.41 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 72.73 per cent and women at 52.99 per cent. The census recorded 1,267 workers, about 50 per cent of the village. Neighbouring villages include Kularan, Narainpura, Dodewala and Bishanpura.
