Where is Gande ke?

Gande ke is a village of Batala tehsil in Gurdaspur district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Batala, about 19 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sri Hargobindpur community development block and is served by the Gande Ke gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 028607, and it covers 222 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,219 people in Gande ke: 629 men and 590 women, living in 210 households, an average of about 5.8 people per household. Spread over its 222 hectares, the population density works out to about 549 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 938 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 137, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 344 people, about 28 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
