Where is Bambowal?

Bambowal is a village in Mukerian tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hazipur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031102, and it covers 84 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,080 people in Bambowal: 528 men and 552 women, living in 235 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 84 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,286 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1045 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 109, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 157 people, about 15 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
