Where is Beh Chuhar?

Beh Chuhar is a village in Mukerian tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Kartarpur, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Talwara community development block and is served by the Beh Chuhar Patti Dugral gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031312, and it covers 307 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,001 people in Beh Chuhar: 959 men and 1,042 women, living in 444 households, an average of about 4.5 people per household. Spread over its 307 hectares, the population density works out to about 652 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1087 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 210, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 182 people, about 9 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 91.9 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 94.72 per cent and women at 89.34 per cent.
