Hoshiarpur Kalota is a village of Mukerian tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Mukerian community development block and is served by the Hoshiarpur--Kalota gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031158, and it covers 214 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,195 people in Hoshiarpur Kalota: 595 men and 600 women, living in 246 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 214 hectares, the population density works out to about 558 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1008 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 120, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 278 people, about 23 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 78.42 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 83.99 per cent and women at 72.98 per cent. The census recorded 295 workers, about 25 per cent of the village.
