Where is Kotli Khas?

Kotli Khas is a village in Mukerian tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Mukerian community development block and is served by the Kotli--Khas ,Basti Kullian gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031218, and it covers 256 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,983 people in Kotli Khas: 1,026 men and 957 women, living in 426 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 256 hectares, the population density works out to about 775 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 933 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 194, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 434 people, about 22 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.51 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.99 per cent and women at 77.75 per cent.
