Where is Nangal Kalan?

Nangal Kalan is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 17 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-I community development block and is served by the Nangal--Kalan gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031600, and it covers 70 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 499 people in Nangal Kalan: 244 men and 255 women, living in 94 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 70 hectares, the population density works out to about 713 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1045 women for every 1,000 men.
