Sandhra is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 22 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-I community development block and is served by the Sandhara gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031705, and it covers 344 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,287 people in Sandhra: 663 men and 624 women, living in 267 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 344 hectares, the population density works out to about 374 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 941 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 110, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 658 people, about 51 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 82.16 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 86.42 per cent and women at 77.66 per cent.
