Where is Satlal?

Satlal is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-I community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031476, and it covers 139 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 493 people in Satlal: 243 men and 250 women, living in 96 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 139 hectares, the population density works out to about 355 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1029 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 76, about 15 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 423 people, about 86 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
