Where is Nat?

Nat is a village of Phillaur tehsil in Jalandhar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nurmahal, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nurmahal community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030070, and it covers 211 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 980 people in Nat: 492 men and 488 women, living in 201 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 211 hectares, the population density works out to about 464 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 992 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 94, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 546 people, about 56 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 69.41 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 72.4 per cent and women at 66.44 per cent. The census recorded 315 workers, about 32 per cent of the village. Neighbouring villages include Shamsabad, Pandori Jagir, Ajtani and Sangha Khalsa.
