Where is Amanipur?

Amanipur is a village of Sultanpur Lodhi tehsil in Kapurthala district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Sultanpur Lodhi, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sultanpur Lodhi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029406, and it covers 220 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 399 people in Amanipur: 202 men and 197 women, living in 88 households, an average of about 4.5 people per household. Spread over its 220 hectares, the population density works out to about 181 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 975 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 38, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 225 people, about 56 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 73.13 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 79.01 per cent and women at 67.22 per cent. The census recorded 148 workers, about 37 per cent of the village.
