Atholi is a village in Phagwara tehsil of Kapurthala district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Phagwara, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Phagwara community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029660, and it covers 244 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,342 people in Atholi: 705 men and 637 women, living in 287 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 244 hectares, the population density works out to about 550 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 904 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 102, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 547 people, about 41 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.47 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.48 per cent and women at 77.93 per cent. The census recorded 414 workers, about 31 per cent of the village. Of the 240 main workers, the largest group, 135, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 94 cultivators on their own land and 8 agricultural labourers. A further 174 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
