Where is Dariewal?

Dariewal is a village of Sultanpur Lodhi tehsil in Kapurthala district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Kapurthala, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sultanpur Lodhi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029361, and it covers 125 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 600 people in Dariewal: 314 men and 286 women, living in 111 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 125 hectares, the population density works out to about 481 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 911 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 57, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 112 people, about 19 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 82.5 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.21 per cent and women at 76.43 per cent. The census recorded 271 workers, about 45 per cent of the village. Neighbouring villages include Todarwal, Dandupur, Boolpur and Kalubhatia.
